"Receive resource crates with each shipment. Villagers gather slower but economic technologies are stronger. National Guards: Cantineras Vivandera and Colonial Gendarmes Frontier Cavalry. Immigrants: Arabs, Croats and Germans." ― In-game description.

Overview[]

The Chileans are a Latin American civilization in Wars of Liberty. Since the birth of this nation, its defense has always had a very particular problem: it’s just too remote, too difficult to reach, too large and thin and sparsely populated. Despite this, Chile holds an important position in the continent and as such it always needed a proper defense for its territory, whether to protect it from foreign invasions or from natives. This has meant that their army has always depended to a large degree on their capacity to mobilize quickly and effectively, to bring provisions to the frontlines and keep the war going, protecting Chile's inhabitants.
In Wars of Liberty, the Chileans are a reflection of this quick mobilization mentality, being much better at taking advantage of crate shipments.

Trivia[]

  • Prior to patch 1.0.15, all Chilean units were trained in pairs as one of their features. Although long rumored to be an inside joke from the developer team, the reason behind the strange units train in pairs bonus for Chile was due to Tahattus wanting to experiment with the Petard animation file.
  • The oft requested unit of the Húsar de la Muerte is represented by the Chilean explorer. This unit eventually also made an appearance in the revolution option for Chile in "Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition".
  • The peculiar intonation of the Chilean Roto villager, an imitation of rural accents of Chile, has been a cause of much debate and derision within the community, with claims of it breaking immersion. It has also become a minor meme within the Chinese community, due to the exoticness and unintelligibly of the voice lines.
