Overview[]

The Mapuche are a Native American civilization in Wars of Liberty and were one of the premiere South American Natives alongside the Tupi and Inca.
In Wars of Liberty, the Mapuche are a people that have been shaped by an almost constant state of warfare, in every battle you’ll see your tribal council on the forefront of your colony and the main way to victory will be through the use of constant harassment through the use of your various cavalry units.

Tribal council: The player have five tribal council members as your Explorers, and can use a shipment to get a sixth. Unlike most civilizations, each council member represents a part of the Home City and gets a set of shipments to choose from.

Ruca icon Ruca: Supports 20 population and can work like a native embassy.

Drumms Battle Drums: Available at Discovery Age for all SAN, it trains a certain amount of warriors anywhere on the map.
Snowstorm Snow Warning: Available at Colonial Age, slows down all enemies in that area.
Ritual Captivity: Available at Fortress Age for all SAN, instantly imprison some enemy units.
Earthquake Earthquake: Available at Industrial Age, greatly damages buildings.
Tornado Tornado: Available at Imperial Age, damages everything in its path, which is completely random..

Trivia[]

  • Mapuche was the passion project of team member Hoop Thrower. Having joined the team to add this civilization to the game and building a library of mapuche history to research it properly.
  • Tahattus came up with the idea of having the Tribal Council ingame, as the team was trying to find a way to make the civilization experience themed while distancing themselves from Spanish gameplay.
  • The mapuche were deliverately designed to not have heavy cavalry in Age II.
