Overview[]

The Portugese are a European civilization, one of the original playable civilizations from Age of Empires III. In Wars of Liberty, the Portuguese focus on discovering new places and exploring unexplored territories. Their explorer always leads them in this quest. They don't just explore, however, they also establish new towns and trading posts, which help their empire grow larger and become more powerful.

Patch 1.0.15

  • New unique light ship: Lorcha. It does not replace the Aviso but is available in addition.
  • The following changes have been made to the Cassador:
    • Renamed Caçador.
    • XP bounty increased from 15 to 16.
    • 7 Caçadores card now sends 6 Caçadores.
    • 10 Caçadores card now sends 9 Caçadores.
    • 8 Caçadores card now sends 7 Caçadores.
    • 12 Caçadores card now sends 11 Caçadores.
  • The following changes have been made to the Ordenanza:
    • Renamed Ordenança.
    • XP bounty decreased from 6 to 4.
  • Ultramarino XP bounty increased from 11 to 13.

Patch 1.0.14c

  • The Ordenanza has received the following changes:
    • They now have a Melee armor of 0.10, instead of 0.20 Ranged armor.
    • Their Hitpoints are now 90, up from 70.
    • They now cost 30 Food and 30 Wood.
    • Their Speed is now 5, from 4.
  • The Cassador has received the following changes:
    • They now cost 90 Food and 55 Coin, up from 90 Food and 45 Coin.
    • Their Trainpoints are now 37, up from 36.
    • Their Hitpoints are now 90, up from 85.
    • Their Ranged armor is now 0.5, down from 0.6.

Patch 1.0.14a-b

  • The Portuguese can now revolt as Java.
  • Revolting as Java upgrades the Cassadores for the Portuguese.
  • Revolting as the Republic of China now upgrades Ultramarinos instead of Cassadores for the Portuguese.

  • The free Caravel you get when Aging-up has been replaced with 2 Fishing Boats
  • The following cards have been changed:
    • TEAM Early Dragoons now affect Calarasi, Boyars and Jinetes.
    • 48 Ordenanzas is now 32 Ordenanzas.
    • Advanced Artillery now affects Organ Guns effectively.
    • Rangefinding now increases mortar range and line of sight by 6 instead of 10.
    • White Fleet has been moved to the Capital Age from the National Age.
    • Sertanistas has been moved to the Enlightenment Age from the Industrial Age, now sends one Explorer instead of two.
    • 8 Ultramarinos is now 12 Ultramarinos.
    • 11 Ultramarinos is now 14 Ultramarinos.
  • The Cassador has received the following changes:
    • Cost increased to 90 Food and 45 Coin from 80 Food and 35 Coin
    • Trainpoints increased to 36 from 33
    • Multipliers have been corrected to x2 versus AbstractPig and x0.75 versus Heavy Cavalry and Light Infantry from x1.5 and x0.8 respectively
  • The Ultramarino has received the following changes:
    • Range reduced to 16 from 20
    • Line of sight adjusted to 20
  • The Ordenanza has received a 0.5 multiplier versus villagers.

  • The Explorer now has a x4.5 bonus against Treasure Guardians, down from x6.

  • Cassadors now deal 24 ranged base damage, down from 26.
  • Ultramarino base damage up to 20, down from 16.
  • Ultramarinos no longer deal x3 damage against Mercenaries, heroes, native warriors and spies, but only x1.5.
  • The Portuguese Politicians now mention that they deliver 1 Caravel.

  • Royal Decree tech Academic Batallions now has an icon.
  • TEAM Early Dragoons card now affects the Green Standard Army.
  • Navigator card now mentions the spyglass ability enhancement.

Patch 1.0.11

  • Ultramarinos stat and cards rebalanced.
  • The Portuguese Cassador now has a new texture, and now uses the Atirador icon and portrait.
  • The Portuguese Atirador has been replaced by the Ultramarino, a light ranged infantry unit specialized at attacking mercenaries, Spy-like units (Spies, Camorristas, Coronels, Geishas, Inquisidors and Ninjas), Explorers and Native warriors.
  • The Portuguese Royal Decree improvement “Besteiros” has been replaced by “Academic Battalions”, which delivers Academicos (renamed Rangers) instead of Besteiros (renamed Crossbowmen).
  • The Portuguese cards “Gunpowder Infantry Attack” and “Gunpowder Infantry Combat” now benefits the Line Infantry and Ultramarino instead of the Musketeer and Atirador, respectively.

Patch 1.0.10a

  • The bug that prevented the Portuguese Line Infantry and Ranger cards from showing up has been fixed. You may have to create new decks to remove the “ghost” Crossbowman and Musketeer cards from taking up space. This problem does not affect newly created Portuguese Home Cities.
  • The bug that prevented the Portuguese Ordenanza hat from showing up has been fixed.
  • The bug that prevented the portrait of the Portuguese Politician “The Mistress” from showing up has been fixed.

Patch 1.0.10

  • The Crossbowman has been replaced by the Ranger for the civilizations who had access to this unit (French, Italians, Portuguese, Spanish).
  • The Musketeer has been replaced by the Line Infantry for the European civilizations who had access to this unit (French, Portuguese, Russians).

  • Portuguese Dragoons are now renamed to Lusitano Dragoon and Imperial Lusitano instead of Jinete Dragoon and Imperial Jinete once the Royal Guard and Imperial upgrade for Dragoons are researched.
