History[]

The 102nd Regiment of Foot, officially known as the New South Wales Corps, were sent to Australia in 1789, and effectively formed the entirety of the Australian army for two decades. Though seemingly a short time, this was a rather eventful one in Australian history. The Corps was used to fight several Aboriginal clans, and was essential in quelling several convict rebellions.

Eventually the Corps would start a rebellion of its own, which had everything to do with their favourite pastime, the one that gave them their most well known name; the smuggling of rum. Governor William Bligh imposed harsh measures to prevent the Corps from trading rum, practices which had the completely adverse effect on the Corps. They attacked the governor's residence, imprisoned Bligh, and took control of the Sydney government in an event known as the Rum Rebellion.

The Rum Corps would govern the colony of New South Wales for two years, after which they were recalled to Britain in disgrace, and order was restored to the colony.
